One Potato, Two Potato Game
Playing “One potato, two potato” helps children to:
- Count slowly and carefully
- Understand how we use numbers and what they mean
- Enjoy helping to prepare and eat food
How to play
Sit down with your child and a bag of potatoes. Slowly count out the potatoes, putting each one carefully into their lap: “one potato, two potatoes…”
Give your child a bowl of water at a table, pour in the potatoes you need for your meal. S/he can scrub them clean with a brush and as each one is clean, line them up on the table saying “one potato, two potatoes …”
You can count them up again when serving.
