Great news; as all YMCA Daycamps and Residential Camps are Ofsted registered and classified as childcare, you save money on the cost by paying with Childcare Vouchers (CCV) or the Government’s Tax-Free Childcare scheme (TFC).

Deciding to pay by CCV or TFC amounts to accepting to buy a service and will be subject to relevant booking conditions. Please note that CCV/TFC payments can only be accepted for the childcare element of bookings and cannot be used to purchase the Family Discount Scheme.

We can also accept payment by credit or debit card for any of our services. If you need any further information that isn’t covered below, call our team for advice: 01489 785228.

The Tax-Free Childcare scheme allows eligible working families to claim 20% of their registered childcare costs, up to £2,000 per child per year, or £4,000 for a child with a disability, from HMRC.  So for every £8, you pay into the scheme, the government will automatically add £2, effectively giving you basic rate tax back on what you spend.  You can build funds in your account which can then be used to pay for your childcare.

For a family to be eligible, both parents need to be working (or one person in a single-parent household), earning between £142.56 per week and £100,000 per year each. The scheme is available to parents of children under the age of 12 (or age 17 for children with disabilities).

Childcare vouchers are a salary sacrifice scheme, whereby employees may ‘sacrifice’ part of their pay in exchange for Childcare Vouchers, to save money on tax and National Insurance Contributions. The childcare vouchers can then be used to pay for registered childcare.  Although this scheme stopped for new applicants in October 2018, those who were in the scheme prior to this date may still be receiving vouchers.  It is not possible to receive both Tax-free childcare and Childcare vouchers.

YMCA accepts childcare vouchers from the companies listed here.  If you leave the Childcare Voucher scheme, you can start to use the Tax-Free Childcare scheme.

How to use Tax-Free Childcare and Childcare Voucher Payments for YMCA Daycamps

Payment for Daycamp or Residential Camp bookings must be made in full at the time of booking. To take advantage of any discounts, cleared payments must be received by the discount closing date for the discount to be applied. If payments are received after the discount deadline, the current rate at the payment receipt date will be applied.

If you choose to pay by CCV or TFC, payments can be sent directly to us via your CCV or TFC online portal. The reference must include your child’s name to match your Daycamps booking.

Further FAQs

Am I too late to pay by TFC or CCV?

If you have paid for your child’s camp by debit or credit card, you have up to 3 calendar months from the start of the camp to send us TFC or CCV payments to be reimbursed.

What if I cancel a booking and have paid by TFC or CCV?

Refunds of bookings paid for using CCV will depend on the conditions as laid out by the relevant CCV company.  In the event we are unable to refund directly back to the CCV company, any credits can remain on your account for future use towards eligible childcare services. Refunds must be made back to the same method with which payment is made; we are unable to refund CCV payments to credit or debit cards due to tax implications.

Refunds of bookings paid for using TFC will be made back to your TFC account or can remain on your account as a credit for future use.

What if my childcare provider isn’t listed as one of the companies you accept payments from?

If you cannot see your childcare provider listed, please contact us on 01489 785228 or info@ymca-fg.org.
