Job Purpose:
The Community Co-ordinator will co-produce with the local community to ensure that YMCA is delivering service and programmes that are both wanted and useful to local people. The postholder will provide overall leadership and management, will be based at the Centre and support the volunteers to run the diverse service, with people of all ages and socio-economic backgrounds accessing provisions within the centre.
The successful postholder will oversee the day-to-day activities of the setting ensuring all programmes and services are delivered to the highest possible standards. The community is diverse, with people of all ages and socio-economic backgrounds.
- Create a warm, welcoming and friendly atmosphere so that the building genuinely is the hub of activity for the community.
- Use entrepreneurial flair, financial acumen and people skills, to bring people into the building and drive its income targets from the café and community hire.
- Forge partnerships and connections across the community and with the centre’s stakeholders
- Manage the building and staff team

- Confident to work with a small team of volunteers
- Can work independently and within a team
- Welcoming nature when communicating with others
- Able to talk confidently about YMCA Fairthorne Group and to identify potential services for the Centre
- Creative and innovative, with the ability to deliver fun and engaging programmes
- Well organised with an eye for detail and motivated to take ownership of programmes and see things through to the end
- A sound understanding of effective customer service
- Work using own initiative.
- Ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines
- Commitment to equal opportunities and an inclusive approach
Qualifications/Experience
Essential:
- Computer skills (including MS Word and Excel)
- Good timekeeping and diary management
- First Aid Qualification (or willingness to work towards)
- Oversight of volunteers
- Some experience of working with communities or groups
Desirable:
- Budget management
- Health and safety qualification e.g. IOSH (or willingness to work towards)
