Job Purpose:

Reporting into the Director of Finance, the finance business partner role is key in supporting the directors and managers and understand the financial performance of their area. The successful candidate will be an essential member of a small, tight knit team. They will be able to deliver clear management information and accounts that supports the leadership team to deliver the budgeted trading performance in terms of surplus and cash targets. The role has the following core areas of focus:

  • Support the Directors/Leadership team to understand the financial performance of their areas and identify actions needed to achieve the financial targets
  • Provide commercial and business partnering support to drive good decision making and appropriate use of cash
  • Ensure the statutory and regulated accounts are delivered on time and with clean audit opinions

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide high quality financial analysis to support decision making take the initiative to improve business performance
  • Lead on the annual budget and in year forecasts cycle, collaboratively with the leadership team and appropriate director to ensure overall performance is delivered
  • Organise, manipulate, and analyse data from source systems to inform decision-making, seeking to automate and improve data quality
  • Support with production of the management accounts and KPIs, ensuring monthly reporting is accurate and timely, and variances are clearly identified and explained
  • As part of the finance team, maintain control accounts, bank account reconciliations and other balance sheet items; ensure reporting is compliant with our obligations eg statutory reporting
  • Manage sales ledger, ensuring team are up to date with invoicing and payment allocation and support the team with debt chasing
  • Manage a team member in supporting the Housing business

Person Specification & Key Competencies: 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Qualified or part-qualified accountant
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Skilled in stakeholder management, capable of presenting financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders
  • Ability to identify, explain and interpret financial trends
  • Good understanding of accounting practices
  • Knowledge of Charity SORP is advantageous

  • Ability to influence and impact
  • Self-Starter and well organised with a track record of using their initiative

  • Willing to travel to other locations as required within Hampshire
