Hampshire’s premier school activity centre, Fairthorne Manor, is set in 95 acres of woodland and meadows on the banks of the River Hamble. We’ve been welcoming schools for residential trips for over 50 years, giving thousands of students the chance to grow, learn and have fun in a safe and supportive environment.

Our primary and secondary school residential trips offer more than just adventure; they build teamwork, resilience and confidence through over 20 outdoor activities — from kayaking and climbing to den building and obstacle courses.

Every visit is led by experienced, safety-first staff, ensuring pupils can push their limits and try new challenges while teachers have complete peace of mind. Catering & Dining

Enjoy three freshly prepared meals each day; breakfast, lunch and dinner, in our welcoming dining room. Menus are balanced, filling and pupil-friendly, with a mix of hot mains, sides and lighter options to keep everyone fuelled for adventure. We cater for all dietary requirements and allergies, including medical, cultural and religious needs; simply share details with our bookings team in advance and we’ll plan safely with you. Sample menus are available on request.

Tuck Shop

Our on-site tuck shop is open during visits with a selection of snacks, drinks and little treats; perfect for break times and evenings. Prices are pocket friendly, so we recommend bringing a small amount of spending money if pupils would like extras. If you have any questions about stock or managing budgets, our team will be happy to advise.

Our friendly, flexible team keep every visit safe, inclusive and unforgettable. We use safer-recruitment practices (enhanced DBS & reference checks) and risk-assess every activity. All delivery staff are trained first aiders and we have 3 on-site defibrillators (AEDs).

    We have a range of activities to suit a range of desired outcomes depending on your requirements. See our activity page for further details.
    Our set times are 09:30 - 11:00, 11:15 - 12:45, 13:45 - 15:15 and 15:30 from Spring to Autumn and 30 mins earlier in the winter.
    Yes, we offer an evening activity for residential groups during the week including campfire and a disco. We can also offer you the equipment for self-led evening activities including wide games, sports and games.
    We are accessible and inclusive - anyone of any ability can take part in activities, as we have off-road wheelchairs and specialist equipment available.
    Yes for children under 12. Young people aged 12+ pay an extra £4.60/day + VAT for adult food portions. View the sample menu here. All residential stays are full-board with our healthy, nutritious meals all cooked in-house by our catering team. Served in our purpose-built spacious dining hall, we can cater for all dietary requirements and allergens. Our catering team are happy to discuss any specific requirements for your group in advance of your trip.

    Prices are based on the first date of stay if overlapping pricing seasons.
    Indoor groups must bring sleeping bags, pillows, and pillowcases. Leaders in indoor accommodation are provided with the bed linen. Tent groups bring sleeping mats, leaders get a camp bed and mattress.
    One free staff place for every 12 young people, additional staff pay £39 per night + VAT for bed and board.
    Residential prices are based on a minimum of 12 children and include selected activities, accommodation, and full board with lunch as the first and last meal.
