Toys at YMCA Andover toy sale

6 December 2023

YMCA Andover Nursery proudly hosted its 4th annual Toy Sale on Saturday, continuing its tradition of bringing residents in Augusta Park together to support local families. The event aimed to raise funds for the community’s cabin, which plays a crucial role in supplying food to vulnerable families throughout the year. An incredible sum of £1,200 was raised to bolster the efforts of the community cabin, ensuring numerous families can enjoy a better Christmas.

The Toy Sale, an anticipated annual community event, saw a fantastic turnout, with local residents generously contributing donations in the lead-up to the initiative. The funds raised will be utilised to purchase essential items for food boxes, directly benefiting families in need. Additionally, the proceeds will be instrumental in supporting the Christmas food drive, a collaborative effort with the local Tesco store and Zurich Insurance UK based in Whiteley, Hampshire.

Eileen Isherwood-Adams Nursery Manager, expressed her gratitude for the overwhelming support, stating, “We had a great turnout at this event, supported by our lovely local community. Helping to support happy, healthy lives is at the core of what we do, and the success of the Toy Sale will undoubtedly make a significant impact on the well-being of families in our community.”

YMCA Andover’s commitment to fostering a sense of community and addressing the needs of vulnerable families aligns with its broader mission. By organising events like the Toy Sale, the Ofsted outstanding rated YMCA Nursery continues to play a vital role in creating positive social change and enhancing the quality of life for residents in Andover.

A parent commented: “Having been a parent with YMCA for the past 11 months, I was aware of the charity work they conduct and continuously want to help whenever possible. We popped along to the Toy Sale in the hope of grabbing ourselves a bargain for our son’s Christmas presents – and wow! The selection of toys available was incredible, the prices were more than competitive, and the staff were all merry and bright! We were so happy to be able to get presents for our little boy and also help with their charity. You can see the passion the staff have for the purpose of the sale, they genuinely looked like they had a great time! We can’t wait for next year’s toy sale – I’m sure we will be donating too!”

The success of the 4th annual Toy Sale reflects the dedication and generosity of the community, as well as YMCA Andover’s ongoing commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of those who need it most.
