Young Carers Festival Celebrates 25 Years – The World’s Largest Event for Young Carers

Running 27th–29th June, the Young Carers Festival (YCF) returns to Botley, Southampton to celebrate its 25th anniversary. For more information visit our YCF page.

Organised by YMCA Fairthorne Group in partnership with The Children’s Society, the festival is a vital space for Young Carers to connect, recharge, and have their voices heard.

This year, we’re expecting 1,500 Young Carers to come together for an iconic weekend of fun, friendship, and advocacy. These young people face immense challenges, often feeling isolated and unseen. YCF provides a rare chance to make friends with others who understand their experiences, reduce stress, and focus on themselves.

For 25 years, YCF has been more than just a festival—it’s a lifeline. It allows Young Carers to:
✔ Connect with peers, breaking isolation and fostering friendships.
✔ Recharge with a well-deserved break from their responsibilities.
✔ Be heard, influencing policymakers and driving real change.

Why YCF Matters

Young Carers are often invisible in society, yet their needs are urgent. CEO Phillipa Spicer of YMCA Fairthorne Group states:

“The Young Carers Festival gives these hidden heroes the support, recognition, and connection they deserve. When we listen to Young Carers, we can change their lives for the better.”
