We are thrilled to announce that we are expanding our Fairthorne Manor Nursery to 160 childcare spaces across four age groups. The expansion includes a new, purpose-built Baby Setting, representing an important investment for families across Botley, Whiteley, Hedge End and the surrounding Southampton area.

Named Squirrels, in keeping with the nursery’s woodland animal theme and chosen by our staff, the new Baby Setting has been created through the refurbishment of an existing building on the Fairthorne Manor site. It has been carefully redesigned to meet the needs of babies in a calm, nurturing and inclusive environment, responding to growing local demand for baby places.

While the refurbishment focuses on a dedicated Baby Setting, the expansion also strengthens provision across the wider Fairthorne Manor Nursery, benefiting families with children of all ages.

The project has been developed in partnership with Winchester City Council, reflecting our shared commitment to investing in local communities and supporting families through access to high-quality childcare.

Vikki Kennesion, Director of Early Years, said:

“Access to high-quality Early Years provision is essential for children’s development and for families who need reliable childcare they can trust. This 25% expansion allows us to welcome more families while continuing to invest in inclusive, nurturing environments where children can thrive from their earliest days.”

The Baby Setting forms part of our wider commitment to community-based Early Years provision and giving every child the best possible start in life.

Our new Squirrels Baby Setting is expected to open its doors in the spring. Ahead of this date, families will be invited to attend Stay and Play sessions, offering the opportunity to explore the new facility, meet our team and find out more.
