Nursery Fairthorne Manor

Give your child the very best start in life

Welcome to Fairthorne Nursery!

YMCA Nursery Fairthorne is set in a former Manor house. Offering places for children aged 4 months to 5 years. Supporting wrap-around care, the nursery is open from 7:30am to 6pm Monday to Friday throughout the year. We’re proud to have been rated Good in our latest Ofsted visit.

Set just outside of Botley, Southampton we offer a unique environment surrounded by stunning parkland and woodlands, just waiting to be explored. They will be given the opportunity and support to thrive and build all of the skills needed to be a happy, healthy and confident individual through a play-based curriculum which focuses upon being outdoors.

All of food at nursery is freshly prepared here daily to ensure your child has healthy, tasty and nutritious meals.

Baby room

Your baby can join us from four months and will access a wide range of activities with our exceptional staff team, enabling them to learn and develop through play, with a particular focus on the outdoors. The nursery fully embraces a Forest School approach, and each day brings a different adventure for the children.

Toddler room

Toddlers approx 2-3 years will learn how to problem solve, take calculated risks, make decisions, and enjoy the outdoor environment. As your child grows, they’ll have daily opportunities to develop confidence, independence, and social skills, spending much of their time outdoors.

Pre-school room

The Preschool room is specifically designed to meet the needs and interests of children ages 3-5 years old. It is a safe and stimulating environment that is filled with a variety of toys, materials, and equipment to support their learning and development.

Hi, my name is Anna and I am one of the Nursery Administrators here at Fairthorne Nursery. I joined the nursery in August 2020, having previously worked in our Finance team. I love working here - my favourite part of the nursery is the Woodland Garden where we do campfires for the children! In my spare time, my family & I enjoy going to the zoo and spending time at the beach (even in winter!)

YMCA Nursery Fairthorne Manor

My son has been here since he was 11 months old, he has thrived due to the care he receives from the outstanding staff. He has additional needs which have been met at every stage, the girls who have looked after him have always gone above and beyond to make sure his needs are met and that he is happy. He gets so excited when we arrive at nursery and I think would happily stay with them longer if he could. He loves the outside space and the walks they go on, along with the variety of activities which take place inside too. I really can’t thank the team enough for the hard work they put in to make the children happy!

“My daughter has been at Fairthorne since she was a small baby at rabbits and she is now a ‘big foxy girl’ as she likes to call herself. She has built so many special relationships with the ladies in each room and has many fond memories. The ladies have also been great with me as a first-time mum and made letting someone else look after my pride and joy easier. I can’t wait to watch this amazing journey with my second daughter who will be starting in January.”

A big thank you to all the wonderful ladies in Rabbits for the love and support you’ve given Izzy since she started at Fairthorne. The love and growth has been a big part of her development and we’ve really seen her flourish since being there. You’re all so smiley and happy at drop off and pick up and we really appreciate everything you do for Izzy woo.

You have made our transition to Nursery daycare so much smoother with fantastic and beautiful updates throughout the day via the parent zone app. I’ve just watched a video from today’s soft play session and it fills me with so much happiness to see the relationship you have built with our son. I will always be grateful for what you’ve done for him in his first months of Nursery. You always have a smile when we arrive and show true dedication and kindness to the needs of those in your care.

My son, in Badgers often talks and and tells me how much he loves Ali. He tells me how she reads books to him and plays with him. I have not met Ali to be able to tell her myself but other members of the Badgers’ team have said he does spend a lot of time with her when she is in. He will definitely miss the Badgers team when he moves up to foxes in the new year.

Our little boy started at Fairthorne Manor Nursery at 10 months old and has continued through until he starts school this September. He has thrived at the nursery with fantastic support from the staff! He was always quiet and anxious but they have brought him out of his shell to be confident and ready for school! We loved the daily use of the outside space despite the weather! We have been so happy with the nursery that we have just started our second child there! Thank you Fairthorne for everything!!
