Keeping children and young people safe is at the heart of everything we do. From 1 March, we are strengthening how we do that.
We will be moving to MyConcern, a secure safeguarding portal run by Tes. This system will replace our current manual reporting and collation process.
There will be two separate instances of the system:
- YMCA Fairthorne Group – covering Early Years and Programmes
- YMCA Fairthorne Housing – covering Youth Services
What’s changing?
For most staff, very little – other than how you report.
The information you provide remains the same. Instead of emailing the safeguarding inbox, you will follow your new local reporting process:
- Early Years and Programmes: QR codes will link to a dedicated reporting form.
- Youth Services: concerns will be recorded directly in the new system.
Training is currently being rolled out to those who will use the system regularly.
Why does it matter?
The new system will:
- Trigger immediate automated notifications to the right people
- Improve the speed and consistency of responses
- Strengthen tracking, accountability and action management
- Provide a clearer overview of safeguarding trends across the charity
Existing open cases will be transferred into the new system so that everyone is working from a single source of truth. Closed cases from this financial year will be archived and linked for reporting purposes. All new concerns from 1 March must be logged using the new process.
Safeguarding remains everyone’s responsibility. This change simply gives us a stronger, more connected way to support that responsibility across YMCA Fairthorne Group.
