Located in the grounds of HMS Excellent, convenient for the M275, our nursery provides excellent quality childcare for service families and the local community in Portsmouth.
Perfect Location
YMCA Portsmouth covers two areas: Holiday Club based at Fairthorne Manor in Botley, which is available in the summer holidays with the provided bus service, and the nursery based on Whale Island as our primary location.

From laying out plates to making sure everyone had what they needed, they did such a fantastic job!![]()

Encouraging the children to take part in everyday routines helps build their independence, confidence and sense of responsibility. These small moments are a big part of getting them ready for school — supporting skills like teamwork, listening, turn-taking and following instructions.
🥞 Pancake Play in Little Whales 🐳![]()

Yesterday our Little Whales got busy in the role play kitchen making their very own play dough pancakes!![]()

The children rolled out the dough using rolling pins, carefully cut out different shapes, and even practised flipping their pancakes in the pans — with some very impressive chef skills on display! 👩🍳👨🍳![]()

Activities like this help to develop fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination and confidence, all while encouraging imagination and creativity. Learning through play at its best ✨![]()
