YMCA Southampton provides safe, secure and comfortable supported housing for 16-21 year olds across a number of settings across the city.
Our housing hub is centrally based at George Williams House, comprising 40 self-contained studio flats with an en-suite shower room and kitchen and 12 units of shared accommodation. We agency manage a further 47 self contained or shared units throughout the city. These additional properties form the basis of our ‘move on’ strategy for the residents at George Williams House, once a period of support has been completed and certain goals met.
Prospective tenants are offered a tenancy on an Assured Shorthold basis, with an opportunity to stay within YMCA Housing for a period of up to 12 months.
Support
At YMCA Southampton, we believe that everyone should be given the opportunity to progress with their lives. Our dedicated support team work with residents as they progress through units of our Y-Pass, encouraging them to achieve independent living and gain valuable life skills.
Staff are on site to help residents plan the next steps in their life and to help facilitate any skills, qualifications or funds that may be required to aid progression.

Y-Pass
Our Y-Pass programme has been specifically developed by our housing team to support the needs of young people and improve their lives.
Y-Pass modules include skills that many of us take for granted – budgeting, life skills, CV writing, applying for jobs, cooking on a budget, health and wellbeing, healthy relationships and sexual health. We have broadened the programme to include other young people across our youth services and other housing projects.

Application routes

When I first contacted the YMCA, I was shy and not very confident. Now, thanks to them, I have a full time job, am living independently and my family is so much closer. For this I will always be grateful.
