ymca star awards, ymca fairthorne group

1 October 2025

YMCA Fairthorne Group’s Staff Celebration Awards are returning for a second year.

Our staff from across the organisation are preparing to celebrate staff excellence and success. The YMCA Fairthorne Group Star Awards are designed to recognise the incredible work done by our staff, and to celebrate the teams and individuals who go above and beyond for young people, children, and communities.

Why It Matters

The importance of celebrating and appreciating staff has never been greater in today’s fast-paced society. Across all our services – including housing for young people at risk of homelessness – our staff work tirelessly to build communities where children and young people can belong, contribute, and thrive. Therefore, we also recognise the importance of creating opportunities for our own staff to thrive.

Every member of our team consistently puts others first. This is a chance for them to put themselves at the centre, and to be recognised for all that they do.

Nominations

After a voting period within the organisation, on the 9th September we gathered to announce the nominations, and the worthy finalists, from each category.

The finalists were selected by our judging panel, including CEO Phillipa Spicer, and our Chair, Dave Bennett.
The categories are:

  • YMCA Way Award – recognising individuals who truly embody the YMCA Way in their work.
  • Rising Star Award – celebrating those who have been with the organisation for less than 12 months, yet have already made a significant impact.
  • Change Agent Award – honouring someone dedicated to improving workplace culture and driving positive change.
  • Unsung Hero Award – acknowledging resilient members of our team who go above and beyond to do their job well.
  • Outstanding Volunteer Award – recognising a volunteer who has shown outstanding commitment to our charitable organisation.
  • Community Focused Award – celebrating an individual or team who deliver services and programmes that meet the needs of our communities.
  • Outstanding team award – honouring a team that has demonstrated exceptional quality, commitment, and community engagement.

Every nominee and finalist has shown incredible passion and dedication to their work.

The Main Event

The celebrations will take place with a black-tie event this Friday, returning to the same venue as last year, The Solent Hotel and Spa. The winner for each category will be announced following an evening of good food, recognisation, and excitement. This event will give all staff the chance to come together, and celebrate the collective achievements across YMCA Fairthorne Group in 2025.

As we look ahead to Fridays celebrations, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who makes YMCA Fairthorne Group what it is today. The impact we achieve simply wouldn’t be possible without the dedication of our staff, the commitment of our volunteers, and the continued support of our communities. Together, you make the difference – and these awards are a celebration of you.
