Volunteers’ Week is here and we’re taking a moment to celebrate the incredible people who give their time to support YMCA Fairthorne Group.
We’ve already shared Arthur’s journey to volunteering, and Sam, who is volunteering in preparation for a career move into the charity sector.
Bernard is an International Volunteer with YMCA Fairthorne Group supporting the outdoors team at YMCA Fairthorne Manor. He is with us from Ghana and supports outdoor activities running sessions, helping out with site improvements, setting up activities and having fun with the children and young people who come to stay at the centre. Bernard’s favourite activity is pioneering and he is looking forward to taking the activity back home to Ghana when he returns.
He volunteers with the YMCA as he wants to have an impact with the younger generation and feels personally fulfilled when he can see that happening.
I enjoy being practical and making sure the kids are safe and having the most fun whilst they are with us.
