YMCA Fairthorne Group has welcomed members of the community to explore it’s brand new baby room at Fairthorne Manor Nursery in Botley ahead of its official opening this summer. The new room will create 24 additional childcare places for local families. The new room, named Squirrels, increases the nursery’s capacity to 160 places for children aged four months to five years.

To mark the occasion, the charity welcomed families from across the local area to an open event on Friday, allowing visitors to explore the new space, meet members of the nursery team, and to celebrate this positive step in the community.

Supporting Growing Demand

The expansion comes at a critical time for the Early Years sector. As demand for childcare continues to grow, the additional places will help more local families access trusted early years care.

The new Squirrels baby room has been thoughtfully designed to create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where babies can learn, grow, and thrive. The additional capacity will enable more families to access YMCA Fairthorne Group’s high-quality early years education and care.

Director of Early Years, Vikki Kennesion, said,

“We were delighted to welcome local families to explore our new baby room and see the fantastic space. This expansion is about more than increasing capacity; it is about ensuring that more families can access the high-quality childcare and early years education they need. It is a reflection of our charity’s ongoing mission to put children first and to support our local communities.”

The opening of Squirrels reflects YMCA Fairthorne Group’s ongoing commitment to supporting children, young people, and families across the region through accessible, high-quality services that help communities thrive.
