What do we want you to do?
This event is so special to us here at YMCA Fairthorne Manor that is has a role description dedicated to just helping us out over this weekend. If you can’t help us at any other time in the year but can offer a couple of hours over this weekend we would love to hear from you.
Delivering the Young Carers Festival to over 1300 participants over the weekend of Friday 28th – Sunday 30th June 2024, we need people across the whole weekend to give the young people an experience they will remember for the rest of their lives.
Can you help us to park vehicles, check in the groups, operate the dining room, serve food, help in the tuck shop, keep the site clean, run arts and crafts sessions, marshall the disco, paint nails and hair braid, pack up the tents at the end of the weekend? Or could you help us on the pastoral side of the festival by just being part of the welfare team and being there for young people to talk to.
Your enthusiasm and willingness to get stuck in will be appreciated by everyone involved and depending on the role you get involved in full training will be given.

What is the time commitment required?
The time commitment is flexible depending on you and the role you are looking to take on. If you can offer a couple of hours, that’s great; if you can do the whole weekend, that’s fabulous too. If you have certain skills you want to share with the young people then we can chat about the best times to be involved.
What about DBS?
You don’t need to have a DBS to take part in the festival, however if you are on the update service or are happy to have one with us we will be able to offer you different roles and tasks across the event.
